WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s China Center announced the appointment of Kevin Ali, CEO of Organon, as the new chairperson of the Center’s Advisory Board. The Advisory Board supports the China Center’s work to advocate for mutually beneficial commercial engagement with China and addressing concerns with China’s trade and commercial policies.

“We are thankful that Kevin has agreed to take on this role,” said Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber.  “He is a highly respected global business leader and already an important voice in U.S.-China relations. Kevin understands the imperatives of advancing global health, fostering innovation, and navigating complex international markets and will be an asset to the Chamber and the business community in this new role.”

At a time of rising uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, economic headwinds, rapid technological change, and ongoing global health challenges, Ali’s leadership and guidance will be invaluable.

“I am honored that the U.S. Chamber China Center invited me to serve in this important role,” Ali said. “The U.S.-China relationship is critically important to American businesses operating in the global economy. Organon supports the China Center’s mission of advocating a mutually beneficial commercial relationship and encouraging dialogues between all stakeholders.”

Ali helped lead the formation of Organon, a spin-off from Merck & Co., known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, with a mission to deliver impactful medicines and solutions that address unmet needs in women’s health. Under his leadership, Organon has made significant progress in establishing itself as the world’s leading women’s health company, serving patients in over 140 markets.

Before Organon, Ali spent more than three decades at Merck, where he held a variety of leadership roles. He served as president of Merck’s international business, responsible for commercial markets outside the United States. Under his leadership, the business was a significant driver of Merck’s growth. Earlier in his career, Ali was the president of the emerging markets region, where he transformed business performance in many countries for sustained growth.
