To the Members of the United States Senate:
As the Senate considers the nomination of Daniel Aronowitz for Assistant Secretary for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), the U.S. Chamber of Commerce offers the following observations. During his confirmation hearing, Mr. Aronowitz demonstrated a clear vision of how EBSA can serve employers and workers by streamlining and clarifying regulations and ensuring that plan fiduciaries, rather than the plaintiffs’ bar, are making decisions for plan participants. We urge the Senate to swiftly consider Mr. Aronowitz’ nomination, and we look forward to collaborating with him upon his confirmation.
Mr. Aronowitz’ experience with plan fiduciaries equips him with the skills and knowledge to provide meaningful guidance to the regulated community while also providing the oversight necessary to protect employees. He also understands the employee benefits system is voluntary, and regulatory action should encourage employers to establish and maintain employee benefit plans to meet the needs of American families.
As the Chamber works to strengthen the employer-provided employee benefits system, we look forward to working with Congress and Mr. Aronowitz.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
